Our volunteers are an important part of creating places where children, young people and families feel safe, valued, supported and full of hope. This Charter explains who we are, what we believe and how we work together. We encourage everyone considering volunteering with Progeny to read it before applying.

Our Mission

We create places of reconnection.

Through our education hubs for young people outside mainstream school, together with our professional counselling, therapy and mentoring services for those who have experienced challenging life stories or who experience the world deeply and uniquely, we help young people reconnect with relationships, learning, healing and hope.

Across everything we do, every young person is known, valued and supported as they move beyond isolation and adversity to rediscover freedom and their God-given Value, Identity and Purpose.

Our Christian Ethos

Progeny is a Christian charity founded upon biblical values and a Christian worldview.

Our faith shapes the way we serve others. We seek to reflect the love, compassion, truth and grace of Jesus Christ in every interaction. Inspired by the image of the Good Shepherd (Zechariah 11:16), we strive to care for those who feel lost, seek those who have become isolated, bring healing to those who are hurting and help every young person flourish.

We welcome people who are willing to support and work within this Christian ethos while carrying out their role at Progeny.

 

Our Basis of Faith

Progeny adopts the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith as our basis of faith and believe in:

​

The one true God who lives eternally in three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

​

The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.

​

The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God – fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.

​

The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.

​

The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ – born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.

​

The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.

​

The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.

​

The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.

​

The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.

​

The church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers — given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.

​

The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.

Everyone who volunteers with Progeny contributes to the culture we are building.

Joining the Progeny Team

If you choose to volunteer with Progeny, you will be asked to work in a way that reflects this Charter alongside our policies and procedures.
